This class has a prerequisite of taking the Non-Traditional Beginner Metalsmithing Workshop prior.

Description

In this class, students will be introduced to forming their own bezels using fine silver bezel wire around stones. The workshop will allow students both an introduction to materials and technique as well as time to complete class projects. With plenty of practice throughout, by the end of the workshop, students will have completed 2-3 projects and should feel confident with their ability to form bezels.

We will learn and practice:

  • forming and cutting bezel wire
  • soldering fine silver bezel wire
  • using a torch to solder the bezel to a back plate
  • using a jewelers saw

  • fine silver bezel wire
  • sterling silver for the back plate
  • stones
  • jewelers saw
  • torches
  • flex shaft
  • mini lathe
  • micromotors
  • finishing tools

 

About your instructor: A self-taught Silversmith, Joan has learned what works and what doesn’t work with Metalsmithing. She has become an experienced Silversmith with close to 7 years of professional experience making and selling jewelry around Montana.
