Spend an evening learning about the effect of police and prisons on Queer and Transgender people, and the movement to abolish the prison industrial complex (PIC). Together, we’ll create small zines about our dreams for a world without prisons, and ideas for the resources necessary to prevent violence and support well-being in our communities.
Facilitator Bios:
Chloe Runs Behind (they/them) is a human in a little brown, trans, body full of big feelings and hopes for a transformed world. They live, work, and organize on stolen Séliš and Qlispe land, AKA Missoula, MT, where they started their journey as a student of abolition in 2019.
Leo Thompson (she/they) is a Two-Spirit Yoeme woman who focuses on trauma-informed cultural education for Indigenous peoples through traditional ways of knowing. They believe that storytelling, language revitalization, and music are essential to restorative justice work.
Julian Costantini (they/he/she) is a trans/genderfluid poet now residing in Missoula and organizing for collective action around housing instability. Julian is a founder of the Honeybee Poets Society, a poetry collective that aims to foster creative collaboration and queer identity. They value bringing together many voices for empowerment, inspiration, & artistic expression. Their writing can be found in The Changing Times and A Million Tidepools Like Mine.
Winona Rachel (they/them) is an arts and writing workshop facilitator with Free Verse in mental health and juvenile detention facilities. They currently work as an environmental organizer in Missoula, but have spent the past 3 years farming in Western Montana. They enjoy elaborate bread baking projects, ping pong, winter, and running ultramarathons.
