Description

Join Art and Play Instructor Eric for a Dungeons and Dragons session in which participants craft characters to form an adventuring party alongside each other and take off into a fantasy world! Eric will serve as guide, narrator, and companion to adventurers as they play along with a spoken story. Props, a map, and mini-figures will help set the scene in this theater of imagination where player choices have consequences and whether your group saves a NPC villager (Non-Playable Character) from a bandit attack or steals from a friendly NPC shopkeeper may affect a quest later on down the line.

The Story: to be announced…

About the GM: Eric Dymit is one of the co-directors of Adventures in Cardboard Montana (otherwise known as AiCinMT), and an avid fantasy and role playing enthusiast! Taking inspiration from the AiC world of Minnesota, he has developed all of the Lore which Montana campers have played in for their summer camps, game days, and residencies*. In addition to his work with AiC, Eric has also worked as an Art Instructor with the Holter Museum of Art, teaching Corks/Cocoa and Canvas classes, Artist in Residency sessions at Helena elementary schools, and summer camps. In his free time, he enjoys exploring the natural world, reading about and drawing fantasy characters, and petting every dog he sees.

* “developed” as in recorded the many exploits, wacky stories, spiraling tales, and yet-to-be-told (to anyone but fellow campers) narratives played out by campers that have come to make up the lore of AiC in MT.

Preparation: Participants will have the choice of either using a premade character sheet provided at the first session, or are welcome to make their own if they know how to*. More information will be provided in the registration email.

*If making your own, finished character sheets must be brought to the first session! Note on characters – as this campaign takes place in the Realm of AiC, participants are suggested to create characters that are aligned with one of the major clans of Middangeard. This is not a requirement, but clan affiliation may affect certain encounters in the game!

  • Mon: Introduction to fellow adventurers and basic DnD guideline. Our story begins…
  • Tue: …the story continues
  • Wed: Mini “mini” workshop. Players will get to paint the figurines of their adventurers for use in the story.
  • Thur: …back to the story
  • Fri: Dungeon or Final Boss. Eric will help players either make a dungeon for their fellow adventurers to journey through or fight a boss battle.
