This workshop focuses on How to fabricate Sterling Silver Jewelry using a gas hand-held Torch.
The Learning Objectives are: Introduction to Torch use and safety. Learn how to use basic metalsmithing tools. Understand metals and how they react to heat. Learn techniques of how Anneal metal and its importance. Learn about using Silver solder, the different kinds, and its relationship with Flux. Learn the technique of sweat-soldering metal using solder to create a bond and layering. Create a Sterling Silver piece of jewelry. Learn how to do basic finishing by polishing and applying a patina. Each student has their own soldering station, tools, and work area. Metals are supplied. This is a 2-day workshop for students to become comfortable with using a torch and learning the basic techniques of annealing and sweat soldering to finish a project.
