David’s Celebration of Life

December 20th is the date for the big celestial send off. Expect stories, books, and drinks.

If anything changes and as details emerge, we will be updating through our social media and via this page on our website.

Until then, in his honor we request that you read some books, drink a pint of beer or hot tea, and remember a man that was the heart of downtown Helena and the Holter for four decades. We love you David and you will be sorely missed.

The museum and involved community members have decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs that come with helping settle David Spencer’s estate and most importantly, to pay for the costs associated with taking care of his book collection and writings. We felt that GoFundMe was the most transparent way to collect these funds from the community and his friends. If you prefer to give a donation in David’s memory to the Holter, that works as well. The funds collected through here will go specifically to help cover end of life costs so that his friends don’t bear the financial burden of making sure he is honored properly.

To make a donation outside of GoFundMe, please feel free to come to the Holter or call or use our online donation form, just make sure that you denote that it’s for David Spencer so that we can acknowledge the gift properly and move it to a separate account.
