To celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, celebrate history through the art of Kolrosing! This art form dates back to the Vikings, but has a contemporary place in Scandinavian cultures. Kolrosing also has roots in Montana through immigrant communities.
What is Kolrosing?
Kolrosing is the art of decorating wooden surfaces with fine carvings. The technique dates back to Viking times and was most often used to decorate utilitarian wares such as bowls, spoons, and cups.

In this adult workshop, the instructor will introduce Kolrosing techniques, from basic lines to complicated designs, and teach the materials used, including the colorful spices that can be used to fill lines, as well as a contemporary take on the traditional charcoal filler.
