Throughout this multi-session class, you will learn the foundational principles of traditional woodworking and gain the confidence needed to pursue independent projects.

What You Will Learn

    • Material Selection: Understand the structural differences between hardwoods and softwoods to choose the perfect grain for your design.
    • Grain Literacy: Learn how to identify natural grain direction and use it to your advantage for smoother, safer cuts.
    • Drafting & Layout: Master the ergonomics of spoon design, including plotting the ideal depth of the bowl, handle proportions, and head shapes tailored to specific culinary uses.
    • Carving Techniques: Transition from marking out your initial wood blank into active whittling as you steadily bring your unique design to life.
