The Artist’s Book in Creative Practice: Workshop with Jessica Hays

Saturday, October 3

1:00-3:00 pm

Holter Main Classroom

Member price: $90
Non-member price: $100

Adults only. Maximum of 12 participants.

Description

Current exhibiting artist Jessica Hays will lead participants through a talk/workshop centered around the Artist’s Book in Creative Practice. This talk and workshop combo covers the importance of the bookmaking process followed by a short workshop in book binding. Participants will finish with one soft cover book that they stitched themselves. Artist books play an important role in Hays’s own practice for realizing long term bodies of work while also serving as artistic pieces in their own right. Hays will illuminate the process of conceptualizing a book with several examples. Participants will then make a book using one of two binding styles.
